Damaged Joplin Health Center Building will not be Repaired

As reported by KY3 news, representatives from Mercy Health System-St. John’s Regional Medical Center have announced that the severely damaged Joplin facility will not be repaired.  Structural engineers have indicated that the building is not at risk for collapse although the site remains dangerous.

Although final decisions about the adjacent facilities have not yet been finalized, Mercy did not feel that  reoccupying the building was viable .  In the meantime, Mercy has kept their pledge to establish a mobile hospital within one week of the tornado.  The new facility opens for patients Sunday May 29.
